Resource monitor

A tool that tells you a lot about what is going on in your system.

You can see a hell of a lot disk I/O is going on at startup.

Playing audio using J River.

In the second graph you see what happens when playing audio.

In this case I'm using the JRiver Media Center memory playback option.

Memory playback loads the entire audio file in memory so no HD access during playback.

If I have to believe the resource monitor:

- the media player access the hard disk with a stable rate of 85000 B/s!

- other programs accesses the HD as well

So before you post on an audio forum about the great improvement in sound quality you obtained by using memory playback, check the Resource Monitor first!
