Compilations

A common problem is that samplers/compilations display not as a single album but  as as many albums as there are tracks.

 

JRMC thinks tracks belong to 1 album if Album Title and Album Artist are the same.
Most of the time the problem with compilations is that the Album Artist is populated by different artist.

 

To solve this and to preserve the individual artist at the same time:

• Copy the Album Artist to the Artist tag
• Use 1 value for the Album Artist e.g. Various Artist.

Procedure:

• Select all the tracks of the album
• Select any cell in the Artist column
• Rename (F2)
• Type =[Album Artist]

 

Alternative: use the Move /Copy Fields dialog

Artist is now a duplicate of Album Artist

 

Populate Album Artist with an identical value

 

• Select all the tracks of the album
• Right click on any Album Artist
• Rename (F2)
• Type something like Various Artist

 

Alternative: use the Tag panel and type the value for Album Artist

Refresh the view

Now the compliation appears as one album
